Writer vs Author

I learned something today. A writer is someone who writes, and an author is someone who has written. What do you think? Comments?

    Good goal! I’ve learned you can be one or the other, or you can be both. My source says that your future books promote any old books you might have. For me, I am a writer. I’d like to think in terms of “I authored a book” like a verb, after I am published. But I am still a writer. Make sense? Cheers! :)
